Note: Before there was a book, there was a pitch to agents and publishers. I also wanted to show them that I could gather people on social media who wanted to read this story. So I sketched out some of the scenes from the book I was writing, such as this one, where Alvin surprised me in court after proclaiming for months that “the Constitution says you don’t have to come to court if you feel bad or hurtin’!” - and then surprised me by showing up the one time I got him excused.
